Since 2018, the Strategic Litigation Center has used strategic litigation before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and United Nations human rights mechanisms as a tool for systems change, targeting patterns of violations rather than isolated cases.
The litigation work has contributed to:
- Exposing and challenging structural human rights problems through international accountability mechanisms
- Supporting precedent-setting decisions and authoritative findings with broader relevance beyond individual applicants
- Reinforcing the role of international litigation as part of long-term advocacy and reform strategies
- Strengthening civil society engagement with international human rights mechanisms in restrictive environments
By linking litigation outcomes to wider advocacy efforts, the Strategic Litigation Center aims to produce sustainable impact on legal standards, institutional practices, and access to justice where domestic remedies fail.
